Gently-used books are given to the Friends through two main sources: the public and the LPL. The public may donate gently-used books by dropping boxes of acceptable books to the Service Entrance in the north west corner of the Main Branch
(off the parking lot)
and smaller quantities to any Customer Service desk at the Main or Crossings Branch. All public donations must be dropped off during working hours, Monday through Friday. On a regular basis, the Library donates deselected books, CDs, and DVDs to the Friends. All books received by Booktique Volunteers are assessed for condition prior to being placed on our shelves.
It has become necessary to create a few criteria, outlining what items are acceptable through public donations. Books need to be in good condition (gently-used and odour-free) and published within the past ten years. The Library no longer accepts the following items: CDs, DVDs, cassette tapes, magazines, encyclopedias, textbooks, or National Geographic magazines. In turn, the Library donates to the Friends those items not essential to the Library collections.
